Robert ("Rob") Brown serves as a Managing Director and Head of Strategy and Corporate Development. He is also a member of the firm’s Management Committee and directs its Investor Relations activities.
Prior to joining NewStar, Rob was Managing Director and Head of Sales Planning & Performance Management for the Global Wealth & Investment Management Division of Bank of America. There, he directed sales strategy, planning and sales force effectiveness programs across all channels, including premier banking, brokerage and private banking, as well as the intermediary and direct institutional sales channels at Columbia Management Group, the bank’s asset management affiliate. He held responsibility for governance of all major strategic initiatives and was a member of the firm’s Banking & Fiduciary and Investment Product Approval Committees. Earlier, he served as head of strategy and business development for Bank of America’s Commercial Finance Division.
Rob joined Bank of America from Fleet Securities, where he managed the firm’s securitization and credit derivatives platform, serving mid-sized corporate issuers, credit investors and other counterparties, while supporting the bank’s portfolio management and risk capital objectives. While at Fleet, he handled a wide array of responsibilities, including the origination of investment banking opportunities and managing strategic marketing and planning for the commercial bank.
Rob received a B.A. in economics from the University of Vermont and an M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island. He also attended the University of London (UCL).
