Boston, Massachusetts, June 8, 2005 - NewStar Financial, Inc., a Boston-based commercial finance company, announces the opening of its southeastern regional office in Charleston, South Carolina.
NewStar provides customized financing solutions to mid-sized customers in the commercial real estate, middle market corporate and structured products markets. Since its launch in July of 2004, the company has completed more than 35 transactions across the country totaling more than $400 million. NewStar has extensive direct origination capabilities and lending capacity of $2 billion.

NewStar's efforts in the southeastern part of the United States will be lead by Managing Director Bob Kosian, who will also cover the retail, restaurant, and consumer products industries nationally. Mr. Kosian brings more than 25 years of commercial and merchant banking experience in the U.S., United Kingdom and Europe with Citigroup and Prudential Securities. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
